1.Some of the precautions to be taken when taking ferrous sulphate are

  • Do not take more than the recommended dose
  • Avoid OTC drugs,herbal supplements,alcohol because this can interact the action of ferrous sulphate
  • To drink plenty of liquids and have fibre rich diet ti prevent constipation
  • To report any medical condition, allergies, blood disorder in prior to the start of treatment because this can aggravate the condition

2.This medication has to be taken as prescribed. An increase in dose than recommended by the provider can result in poisoning .In most cases an increased dose than the need shows no effectiveness of the drug to the body.It can cause constipation and others serious side effects if taken in more quantity

3.Iron supplements generally cause constipation. This happens due to poor iron absorption. To aide in absorption vitamin c rich foods can be taken to prevent constipation.

4.The safety plan in home to be followed are

  • Keep this medicine in cool and dry place, prevent from direct sunlight
  • Keep it out of reach from children to prevent accidental ingestion
  • Can be kept in lock and key
  • Keep the medicine labelled or separately to avoid mixing with other drugs in the home.
