Field Trip!

Visit your local Farmer's Market and/or the produce section of your local Grocery Store and find a plant (vegetable, fruit, green, nut, etc.) you've never tried before! Do your own research for a recipe or ask an employee how they suggest you prepare your chosen item and try it for yourself!

Then: write about your experience stating what you did or did not like about it and what you could do in the future if you think you'd try it again! Be sure to also include the nutritional information about the food item that you chose. You will need to do some research for this. Provide calorie content per serving and some information about micro and macro nutrient content. How does it benefit and add to a healthy diet?

MIXED VEGETABLE AND FRUIT SALAD RECIPE

Total time : 15 - 30 min

Serves : 4

Nutrition facts : 240 calories, 9 gram fat

Ingredients

1 cup- red cabbage (chopped) 1 cup - carrot (finely chopped)   1/2 cup bell pepper (chopped) 1 cup - broccoli ( chopped to small pieces) 1/2 cup green onion (chopped) 1/4 cup - red onions (chopped) 2 inch piece (ginger grated) 2 cloves - garlic (crushed) 1/2 cup - peas 1/2 cup - mung bean sprouts 1 cup - apple (chopped to pieces) 1/4 cup - raisin 1/4 cup - cashew nuts  

For dressing: 1/4 cup - lemon juice, 1/2 cup- orange juice, 2 tsp- honey, 4 tsp - pepper powder, 2 tsp - soy sauce.

Method of preparation

whisk the ingredients for dressing and keep it aside

now combine all the other ingredients in another bowl

toss with dressing

serve immediately or chilled
