Answer #1

Ans) Competing demands, lack of privacy, and background noise are all potential barriers to effective communication between nurses and patients.

- Role boundary issues; scope of practice; responsibility; accountability; and people in dominant positions are all sources of interprofessional conflict. This type of conflict negatively affects work environment that lead to nurses work dissatisfaction, turnover, poor patients' satisfaction and outcomes.

- The most common triggers of situations of conflict are: communication problems, organizational structure, role disputes, lack of resources, misunderstandings, lack of professional commitment, among others.

- Address the situation positively:
• Listen. Give him a chance to offer his perspective.
• Acknowledge. Tell him what you've heard him say (you don't have to agree with it).
• Take responsibility. Begin the sentences in which you offer your perspective with I, not you.
• Ask.
• Follow through.
