The nurse leaders promote growth and development within their practice discipline by following ways

1. Nurse leaders reform themselves as mentors through their subjective professional experience. The mentorship of the leaders helps to mould the knowledge, skill and attitude of future nurses  

2. Nurse leaders can encourage research culture in the practice area . It enriches the professional experience of the nurse and thus evidence based practice can be strengthened in the organization.

3. The leaders empower themselves by taking up additional leadership courses or moudules which helps in improving the administrative and leadership skills.

4. The future nurses should have a clear understanding of extended roles which can practice and can take up additional knowledge and skills for the performance of the same eg. Diploma program on disaster nursing, anesthesia etc.

5. The future nurses has to be assertive, autonomous and should develop good interpersonal relationship to strengthen their own practice
