Ans.) Sugar is a basic ingredient we all recognize that we must always be eat it sparingly. An excessive amount of sugar is not healthy for us. However, there are literally 2 different types of sugar; one is natural sugars and other is added sugar. Now, here the question arises that what is the difference between these two types of sugar and which one is healthier for than the other.

Added sugar includes any sugars or sweeteners that are added to the food throughout process or preparation (such as putting sugar in coffee, flavoured yoghourt etc.). These added sugars can easily find in the ingredients list as refined sugar, pure cane sugar, turbinado sugar, coconut sugar, raw sugar, molasses, syrup, honey, corn syrup, rice sweetener, agave, gaseous cane juice, and high fruit sugar syrup.
On the other hand, natural sugar, are the part of the food. They are not added additionally. For example, lactose in milk, or the fruit sugar (fructose) in fruit.

Low fat yogurt - a single pack of (245 gm) of low-fat yogurt contain up to 47 gm of sugar, which is quite high for the daily consumption.

Sports drink - A standard 570 ml bottle of a sports drink have 32 gm of added sugar and 159 calories, which is almost equals to 8 teaspoons of sugar.

Chocolate milk - A typical 200 ml glass of chocolate milk have an extra 2 teaspoons of added sugar.

Granola - 100 gm of granola contains approximately 400 calories and over 6 teaspoons of sugar.

Protein bar - Many protein bars have around 30 gm of added sugar that is almost similar to a candy bar.
