According to the transtheoretical model, there are 6 stages in the change of behavior.

Precontemplation stage:

During this stage, the patient doesn't concerned about their poor quality of sleep. They will not analysis the risk of poor quality of sleep and doesn't intend to change their sleeping behavior.

Contemplation:

In this stage, the patient got awareness of their risk behavior of sleeping and conflict arises between the emotions and change of behavior. At last, the patient ready to change their behavior and try to modify their behavior by identifying the barriers in the change of behavior of sleep.

Preparation:

In this stage make small changes in the sleeping behavior to attain the ultimate goal of the behavior. The person has to be motivated towards the attainment list of goals. Motivate the individual tends to make a small change in the behavior of sleeping hours. Motivate the individuals to alleviate all the barriers and discomfort that interfere with the sleeping. Motivate them to move towards healthy behavior.

After the program, the participants move towards the stage of

Action:

In this stage, the participants are targeted to move towards healthy behavior in order to improve the quality of sleep and sleeping hours. The participants have to be given with an adequate diet, encourages physical activity, change of unhealthy behavior all leads to improve the sleeping habits. Reward them in achieving goals. Motivate through statements of healthy sleeping behavior.

Support:

  • The practice of new behavior.
  • Provide support to overcome the obstacles.
  • Initiate a new exercise regimen.
  • Provide a healthier diet and healthy habit before sleeping.
  • Engage them in a healthy lifestyle.
  • Improve the self -esteem.
