Sociology : Sociology is the study of the society,especially the human social relationships.It will be dealing with different subjects of society such as culture,traditions,customs,marriage systems,family and social problems as well.So, it deals with a wide range of issues which are happening in the society.

Sociological perspectives is the one which deals with the relationship of the human behaviour with the other society or social relationships.

Purposes of sociological perspectives:

• helps to identify the individual behaviour in the society
• helps in understanding the social behaviour that means how the world around us can be identified.
• maintains harmony between the society and the individual.

Types:

The sociological perspectives are mainly divided in to the following types:

• symbolic interactionism
• structural functionalism
• conflict theory

These paradigms will helps to identify how the individual influences the society or how the society influences the individual.

Symbolic interactionism:

symbolic interactionism deals with the symbols that the individual is using in their daily life.The symbols may be different for each individual according to their own perception or their social world.

The symbols means the action or the language what the individual is using daily in their life.

For example written music helps as a symbol to play the music and braille is a symbol can be considered as a language for blind people.

If you are applying this perspective for the marriage system- wedding rings,white wedding dress and cake are also used as a symbols for marriage in some countries.But each individual will have different perspectives on theses symbols.some may think ring is indicating continuous love but some may think it as an expenditure.

This perspective received more criticism because of its individual differences.

Structural functionalism:

Structural functionalism helps in identifying the structures and functions of the society.This perspectives deals in detail about the functioning of the society.

For example usually the Government plans for some educational programs for the welfare of the poor and needy which helps to upbring the children so then they can become responsible citizens of the society.This can happen if the society is economically stable enough to bear the expenditure which need to be spent on the child.

If the society is not in a situation to bear all this then the Government may offer less welfare programs.

This helps in maintaining the social stability,order and also the harmony based on the resources that are available.

Conflict theory:

Conflict theory helps in identifying the conflicts or stress in the society and how they are going to affect the society.The previous perspectives are dealing with the positive aspects of the society such as stability and harmony this perspective deals with the negative aspects of the society such as conflict and stress.

This perspective says that there will be conflicts among the individuals because of the inequality between the different gender,race,religions,economic status etc in the society.

Because of these differences constantly there will be some competition among the group which will result in ever changing social process.

Finally this perspective attributes civil rights, democracy and other positive aspects of the society.

According to these perspectives symbolic interaction perspective is the perspective which will be used in interview technique.

Symbolic interaction deals with the symbols which are used by the individuals.So it will be useful to assess the indiviual behaviour.
