Q: It is projected that by 2035 the number of diabetes will increase by 96.2% in the Arab world.

Discuss 3 approaches of prevention to control the disease. (with minimum 500 words)

Three approaches if prevention are

Primary prevention -

Primary prevention is when the person is taking care before there are any signs of the disease seen.

Primary prevention for diabetes mainly include avoiding all risk factors which may lead to diabetis. Following are the examples of some of the primary prevention.

-Maintaining a healthy weight

- Avoiding surgery foods

- Limiting the intakr of saturated fat

- Daily exercise regime

- Avoiding Smoking and sedentary life style

- Taking a balance diet with appropriate carbohydrates, proteins and fiber.

Secondary prevention

secondary prevention mainly includes screening for the disease at an early stage, before the disease develops.

Performing Glucose tolerance test at regular intervals, to rule out risk for diabetes at the earliest

Performing HBA1C test, to rule out diabetis.

Knowing the Measures to prevent diabetes

Genetic screening to know the risk of developing diabetis

Tertiary prevention

Tertiary prevention is when the disease has already developed but taking care to control the level of sugar and to prevent the complications of diabetes.

Tertiary prevention mainly includes

- Regular monitoring of blood glucose level

-Strictly following the diabetic diet

- Exercise regularly

- Regular screening for the complications of diabetes

- Good compliance to diabetic drugs.

Thus these are the three approaches of prevention.

Adequate protein intake.

Good dietary fiber

Education on utilization primary health care services.

Avoid food toxins.

Genetic counseling.

Correction of sedentary lifestyle.

Avoidance of alcohol and oral contraceptives.

Reduction of risk factors that create atherosclerosis.

Ficus target population.

2. Secondary prevention:

Proper screening

Routine check up for blood sugar and urine sugar.

Regular visual examination

Feet should be examined for detective circulation in feet.

Primary health care.

Stop smoking

Stress management

Life style changes.

Problem solving.

3. Tertiary Prevention:

Rehabilitation

Amputation

CABG

Advanced eyes surgery

Measurements of complications.
