Mediterranean Diet:

In this diet people will take healthy fats, fruits and vegetables, sea food, whole grains, olive oil, legumes and lots of nuts, but they will try to take limited red meat, yogurt and cheese. It is a heart-healthy diet and diet mainly includes food staples of people living in and around the Mediterranean Sea (Greece, Croatia, and Italy). This diet also include red wine in moderate amount for both men and women and it is proved that it will reduce the risk of developing heart related complication, it will help us to maintain sugar level in our body and aids in weight loss.

Mediterranean Diet health benefits:

Provide protection against cancer due to high antioxidants.

It can decrease heart disease risk

Fight and protected against depression

Control blood sugar and manage diabetes

Strengthen bones and prevent from the diseases like osteoporosis

Typical American diet: It can mainly consist of red meat, dairy products which are artificially processed by sweeteners. They minimum use of whole grain fish and vegetables they basically eat the red meat all the most of time that can also cause some disease in them like diabetes.

When compared with the American diet most of the people are picked the Mediterranean diet because in the Mediterranean diet plan can includes taking lot of fruits and vegetables, replacing butter with olive oil, limiting the intake of red meat, eating poultry and fish at least twice a week, taking red wine in moderation, replacing salt with spices for flavoring and doing plenty of exercises. Several research has proved that the Mediterranean diet has lowered the incidence of heart attack, various cancers, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease and also the Mediterranean diet is simple and easy to follow and most sustainable for the long run.

Advantages of the Mediterranean Diet

People can easily follow this on long term basis due to varied flavors and food options.

Being low in saturated fat, it is good for your body and heart and maintains your cholesterol levels in limit and the source of fat is from olive oil, fish oils, nut oil etc.

It will keep your heart healthy and prevents cancer (colon, prostate, head, neck cancer etc), diabetes, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. It will increase your bowl movement due to high fiber content and also regulates the blood sugar level.

Gives strength to your muscles and keeps you agile and increases your life time.
