a. Democratic leadership, often known as participatory leadership or collective leadership, is a form of leadership style in which group members play a more participatory role in the decision-making process. This type of leadership may apply to any organization, from private to college to state.

b. The ability to participate is granted to everyone, ideas are openly shared, and debate is encouraged. While the system of democracy tends to focus on group unity and the free flow of ideas, the group leader is still there to provide direction and command. The democratic leader is charged with deciding who's in the group and who's going to contribute to the decisions being made. Group members are encouraged to share ideas and views, even if the leader retains the final say on decisions.
The group members feel more involved in the process.
Encourage and reward creativity Democratic leadership offers a lot of flexibility as situations change regularly and adapt to new ways of doing things. Sadly, making a decision in this system is also somewhat sluggish, so while it may accept modern and better methods, it may not be very quick. If a decision is very complex and wide-ranging, it is important to have represented and contributing input from the different areas of expertise–this is where democratic leaders shine.

Group members are also more involved and dedicated to initiatives, making them more likely to be worried about the end results. Research on leadership styles has also shown that democratic leadership among group members leads to higher productivity.

d. George Washington: When commanding forces during the American Revolution, once leading the U.S. government, Washington was especially democratic. Through naming strong leaders to his team, he showed early signs of his democratic leadership style. A democratic leader who knows when to pass the torch was exemplified by his decision not to serve a third term. Thomas Jefferson: He was an authoritarian and democratic leader as president. As America's primary author In 1776, the Declaration of Independence left no doubt regarding Jefferson's commitment to democracy: "We find these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." In 1803, he autocratically bypassed Congress for $15 million to expedite the Louisiana purchase.
