Answer: Non-verbal behavior include the gestures, facial expression as well as body language. As a patient, the expressions and the non-verbal behavior of the healthcare professionals has much impact. This behavior indirectly give a kind of assurance that the healthcare professional is interested in communication. It also increases confidence among patient. For example, while a patient is describing his health condition to the healthcare professional, the non-verbal response of the healthcare profession such as eye contact with the patient, nodding head, this shows that healthcare professional is interested and listening to the problem carefully. This also improves patient satisfaction output.

Sometimes patients are unable to express their problem aur feeling but the non-verbal behavior easily reveals the most of the problem. As a healthcare professional, interacting with the patient through non-verbal behavior may increase more efficiency that patient can rely upon healthcare professionals. Generally, patients are not only suffering physically but they are in mental trauma. So, healthcare professionals need to take proper care of the patients. Some patients are in mental trauma due to their disease, in this case, they need assurance. So, their communication influences interaction with them as they need more moral support and assurance.
