Interviewing is a kind of knowing someone, having a viewpoint about someone and understanding that what the other person (who is being interviewed) thinks.
Interviews done are basically face to face and it involves a healthy conversation between two people. It is somewhat a structured conversation involving an interviewer and an interviewee.
Motivational interview involves empathy showing and understanding the clients feeling, and values. It requires that the person interviewing the other person shows respect, have a unique understanding and avoiding arguments. It also involves reflective listening in which the interviewer is required to understand the interviewee's viewpoints.
It is done to motivate the clients and develop a sence of motivation among them.
It can be known when you are doing motivational interviewing by the type of conversation involved in the interview.
