Answer #1

Wilfred Owen's "Anthem for a Doomed Youth ", speaks about the death or sacrifice of young soldiers in the War.He wrote this in Scotish hospital.

He states that the soldiers in the War are dying like cattle with no bells and the only sound they can hear is the sounds of the rifle guns. There are no candles to lit and only the shimmering eyes to say good bye. Those poor soldiers would not have a Christian coffin or a decent burial and they can only have a cloth covered over coffin and only some flowers which were placed traditionally.

From this the speakers state of mind can be characterized as

  • Sadness
  • Mourning
  • Bitterness
  • Hopelessness
  • Ironic
  • Romantic
  • Sympathetic
  • Powerful
  • Negativity on war
  • Depressed
  • Emotional
