Answer #1

ANSWER.

* Calculation of volume(ml) of drug required.

      Formula

         Volume(ml) = Desired dose(D)/Dose in hand(H) * Quantity(Q)

Here

      Ordered dose = 200 mcg/lb.

Weight of the patient = 150 lbs.

   Desired dose(D) for patient weight 150 lbs = 200 * 150

                                                                           = 30000 mcg.

            Dose in hand(H) = 3 mg.

Convert mg to mcg for calculation.

             1 mg = 1000 mcg.

    So

         Dose in hand(H) = 3 * 1000

                                    = 3000 mcg.

              Quantity(Q) = 1 ml.

As per above formula

       Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                     = 30000 / 3000 * 1

                                                     = 10 * 1

                                                     = 10 ml.
