Defense mechanism to cope with the situations and stress is the inbuilt tendency of the human mind and body to enhance the coping skills and produce a better fight against the stress and situations in life. There are different types of defense mechanism used by different individual at different point in life, it is mostly seen that the patient who is stressed or anxious uses repression and denial as their defense mechanism to calm themselves and face the situations.

It is seen that most of the individual who stresses out or is fearful denies the situation and uses it as their defense mechanism. It is most common mechanism that is used when a person refuses to accept the reality. The person blocks the external stimuli from their minds to avoid experiencing or facing them emotionally.

Repression is another common mechanism used by the individual who is stressed or fearful or being anxious. Unwanted thoughts, beliefs and memories tends to upset the individual and some people develop habit of hiding them rather than overcoming these thoughts. This mechanism is used as a form of denial only but it hides the emotions of the individual and this does not infleunce disappearance of the events but impacts the behaviour and cognition of the individual..
