The PPACA , healthcare reform is a law enacted on March 23,2010, which issued new rules and guide lines on the offering , administration , and acceptance of healthcare providers , insurance companies , individuals and employers . The law is quite broad , affecting insurance companies , hospitals ,individuals and employers . Many of the laws section have different effective dates . For instance , the individual mandate , the piece of PPACA which requires that individual S obtain a level of health coverage known as minimum essential coverage went into effect in 2014. The three main departments which regulate PPACA, the internal Revenue service , the Department of Labour and the Department of Health and Human Service.

The patient protection and affordable care act PPACA and the Health cate and Education Reconciliation act of 2010 may be the first steps in the process of federal health care reform , but many of the provisions of the PPACA represent further movement on a path that has been laid out over the past decade by policymakers in the public and the private sectors , the PPACA sends a strong signal that quality will be a cenyralcdriver of this change in an environment that rewards value and quality , attention to outcome measurement and improvement will be essential to the success of organizatopnas across the Health care system . This includes health care plans and the physicians and institutions with which they interact . The PPACA are driven by forces that rely profoundly on the measurement of health system performance in 2 core areas. But PPACA signals that these forces will drive the next stages of change payment reform and delivery system reform.

Thus healthcare organization and individual physicians will have to respond . Starting in 2010 CMSs five star quality rating system is a performance rating system for MA plans will be used to create bonuses for plans that achieve 4 or 5 quality stars. These new financial incentives are bound to significantly shape health plan priorities in the .Future. Therefore syrategic planning is a completely valid and useful tool for guiding all types of organizations , including healthcare organizations. A thorough understanding is essential before it can be effective ly implemented . Unless such understanding is achieved which is not always the case , the process may be approached in a superficial manner , which is a common cause for the failure of strategic planning and organised process whereby an organization creates a document indicating the way it plans to progress from its current situation to the desired future situation.
