The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law in March of 2010. Assess the effectiveness of the PPACA in the past year, both for a person and for the nation. Give your opinion of whether the law is good or bad for the economy. Finally, from a health policy perspective, suggest if the law should undergo any changes in the future, what those changes should be, and why.

Answer: The Affordable care Act was introduced in March 2010 to reduce the healthcare cost as well as for the benefits of people. The effectiveness of the PPACA has provided millions of people the opportunity to enhance their health and avail quality of care. More healthy people results in to healthy Nation. Health of people is directly proportional to the nation.

This law has provided many benefits to the people such as:

  • It lowers the healthcare cost by providing better hethcare facilities to the patients.
  • It covers most of the healthcare treatment which also includes mental heath, drug abuse or addiction.

This law has provided many people get insured as well as reduced the healthcare cost. It covers most of the treatment and provided reimbursement for at least 21 illness. This is a good for those people who were unable to avail the healthcare insurance.

The Law has overall many benefits but there are some drawbacks which needs much improvement such as :

  • This act impose tax on the people who don't have the healthcare insurance.
  • Due to this act most of the people have lost their employment based healthcare insurance.
  • It increases the cost of healthcare for short term.

So, this law need improvement in the premium rates as well as it should ensure that the people should get the health care insurance during their service period.
