Answer: Nifedipine is a drug which belongs to the calcium channel blockers. The drug is used in the treatment of Hypertension, chest pain. It relaxes the heart muscles and enhance the flow of the blood in the vessels.

The adverse reactions of the Nifedipine includes fatigue, muscles cramp, heart burn with nausea. It is contraindicated in the patient who are allergic to the this class of the drug.

The nurse should care and monitor the blood pressure of the patient as well as the prescribed dose should not be exceed. Nurse should educate the patient about taking the extended release drug on the empty stomach.
