Describe how local application of heat will support the healing process. Give the pathophysiology, indications, control, methods, nursing care for heat application
The local appliocation of heat raises tissue temperature ,producing vasodilation resulting in an increase in blood flow to the area and tissue metabolism..With an increase in in blood flow the viscosity of blood is decreased and capillary permeability is increased, developing leukocytes ,oxygen and nutrients to the area and taking waste away more effectively.Heat application decreases muscle spasms and joint stiffness, thus promoting ease and better range of motion and reducing pain.
Pathophysiology
The rebound phenomenon is important to consider when utilizing heat and cold therapies..The therapeutic effects of heat are produced by vasodilation .if heat is applied for more than 30 minutes ,vasoconstriction and tissue congestion occur ,for reasons unknown.
Indications
Heat therapy is generally used for chronic injuries that have no inflammation or in the later stages of rehabilitation of an injury.Heat therapy is idel for stiff, naging muscles or joint.Athletes often use heat therapy to warm up muscles and joints before excercise.
Control
Heat should be applied for 15 to 20 minutes at a time.To prevent burns ,never leave a heating pad on for more than 20 minutesor while sleeping and never apply directly to the skin without a protective layer such as a towel between the heat source and the skin .Heat shoukd not be used if the injured area are prone to swelling or show signs of inflammation .
Methods
Heat can be applied in a variety of or moist methods.Moist heat penetrates the skin and reaches ligaments ,muscles and joints. One method of applying either dry or moist heat is with a disposable Aquathermia pad. They are moldabe and can be used on limbs.Another method for applying constant ,even heat is with a heating pad molded to clients body..Hot water bottles, commercial heat packs, heating pads and warming blankets are used.
Nursing care
Describe how local application of heat will support the healing process. Give the pathophysiology, indications, control,...
Describe the most common types of process control valves and briefly describe how they are built.
Describe how control charts are used to assess process variation.
57. A common application of control systems is in regulating the temperature of a chemical process (Figure P6.13). The flow of a chemical reactant to a process is controlled by an actuator and valve. The reactant causes the temperature in the vat to change. This temperature is sensed and com- pared to a desired set-point temperature in a closed loop, where the flow of reactant is adjusted to yield the desired temperature. In Chapter 9, we will learn how a...
Describe an industry application, a process that satisfies the first law of thermodynamics, but not the second law. Describe a product or system that manufacturers claim to minimize entropy generation for that process. Think outside the box as to how the entropy generation could be decreased further. (Design ideas cost more to incorporate than the money saved by the corporation.) How is entropy affected by processes? NOTE:- PLEASE ANSWER IT BY COMPUTER TYPING AND DON'T COPY FROM ANYWHERE NOT EVEN...
Explain how process improvements using control charts are used to support areas of industry research, academic research, and scientific research.
29. Describe the GIS Needs Assessment Process. How would you apply this process to a GIS for Disaster management? Discuss how you would align the system to the business functions and operations. Give examples to support your approach.
Describe how to apply process and value stream mapping for process design, and give one example.
describe how you apply the first step (assessment) of the nursing process in your current practice setting. if you are not currently practicing as an RN, you may use an example from a prior clinical or work experience. including the following 1. briefly describe your practice setting and the typical patient populations 2. provide example of key subjective and objective data points you collect 3. Describe your process of data analysis. what is the end result of this process? 4....
Describe the conflict process. Give an example of a conflict you were involved in and how it was resolved.
1. Process and structure/microstructure control of aluminium stamping of a car component. A. Temperature – Describe how temperature is involved in each stage of your process, including how it influences the internal structure of the material, the defects that could likely be introduced due to temperature, and the mechanical property issues that could be caused if temperature is not correctly controlled during your process. B. Pressure (or force/load) - Describe how pressure is involved in each stage of your process,...
