With the aging patent and retiring nurses there is a shortage that has to be filled in. “Foreign-born nurses make up about 15 percent of registered nurses in the U.S., according to a June 2016 report by the Institute for Immigration Research at George Mason University and the Immigrant Learning Center” (Esposito, 2017). There are several downfalls in recruiting international nurses. For example, one study found that the self-perceived clinical competence of over 3,000 international recruited nurses showed that they consider themselves to have a low-level of competence in medication administration and managing computerized technology or other workplace technology (Squires, 2018).
Answer: There are many nurse that are being recruited from foriegn countries due to lack of availability of the nurses in our own country. The recruitment is based on the talent as well as experience. To fulfil the demand, there are foreign born nurses makeup about 15 percent of registered nurses in the U.S.
If the barriers as well as the challenges in the nursing profession will be lowered then will there be low percentage of the foriegn nurse recruitment? How these obstacles can be removed in the nursing profession?
