Self esteem

Self esteem means confidence in one's own worth. It is the self respect of a person.

Ego booster helps a person to boost his self respect and he feels better about oneself such as praise, word of encouragement and success.

Ego buster is some one or something who destroys or decreases another person's self respect or self esteem.

1. Ego booster ( to me)

( sample situations)

A teacher who encourage a student( who is not so active in socializing with people but have the ability to grasp things very fast and do a good extend studies) to be Master of ceremony for the upcoming cultural fest. The teacher supported him in between for practices. After the completion of programme , even though there were minor mistakes, the teacher appreciate her and praises her in front of all the other students. This incident acted as a ego booster for her. Her self esteem improved and she tried to improve her stage personality and vocabulary.

2. Ego buster

When a student tried a seat for PG course in nursing,one of her senior told her that there is no use of joining for MSN. It doesn't make any difference and it is tough . For some days the student was in dilemma whether to join or not to join.But she didn't give up, went on with admission to MSN and successfully completed MSN.

3. Be an ego booster in some one's life

When a student join for BSN course, she failed in the first semester exam and she became depressed. The teacher had a counselling session with her and encouraged her that "this is not the end and you passed in all classes until degree and this is also a possible task, if you have the interest. I know that you are an able student, who is having good language and intelligence. So reduce the distractions, aim for distinction and that is possible for you". The student got encouraged with it. Teacher supported her and she gained first class for next sem.

4. Ego buster in someone's life

A student X sang in the freshers day programme . She used to sing well but in that day she couldn't do well. another student Y commented that " I couldn't get your performance, whether it was singing or speaking" . This incident made the X to be ashamed of her performance and she didn't sing in any programme after that in the college.
