Regardless of how and where we are born, the fact that everyone dies one day unites people from different cultural practices. However, culture varies with the geographical area, the reason for death and how they define death and what happens after a person dies. So, it is important to assess the cultural variations followed by different people living in different socio-cultural, behavioral and also in religious context. Although people are different and follows different cultural variations, Korean funerals are very structured and made up of variety of important rites. In that, a person dies from a Royal family, the funeral lasts for up to a month and the body would be covered using a special cloth called su-ii. In that funeral that lasts for a month, they offer gifts and give foods to pay the respect to the dead body. In others, family members make arrangements and also accepts monetary offerings and the funeral will lasts for 3 days. Moreover, they believe in certain geographical locations for burial to assure the spirits are safe and sound. After the funeral, the place of burial will be re-visited on any special occasions/days to make their spirit happy. But the traditions are changing and the relationships are strengthening but still different cultures practicing in rural and urban areas of Korea.
