When the wife comes in for her annual Pap smear, the physician tests her for gonorrhea, saying, “I just want to run another test on you to rule out a possibility.” He finds that she has been infected and treats her without telling her the diagnosis. He merely tells her, “I want you to take these antibiotics as a precaution.”

Question 1: Would the physician have violated George’s confidentiality if the physician had told his wife she tested positive for gonorrhea? Why or why not?

Dr. Smith has been the Jones’s family doctor for more than 20 years. He is shocked when Mary, the 16-year-old daughter, tests positive for gonorrhea. He is appalled that she has had premarital sex and informs her parents of her condition.

1)I think she should have the right to know about her illness.and the physician not breaking the confidentality by sharing with his wife about her problem.physician should have tbe right to follow the medical ethics.and he does not tell any thing about her husbands problem.thus,it can not considered as breaking the privacy.

2)gonorrohoea is sexually transmitted disease.if he tell her parents about her disese condition ,they can take care of their daughter.they can make their doctor understand about the consequences of problem as directed by doctor.if she does not know the consequences,she may have physical relation with any other one and disease can tramitt from one person to another.He follow his ethics to tell the truth about the disease condition.
