Answer #1

(Assuming that these questions are from some article on obesity, I am answering according to the general literature about this topic)

  1. Although obesity is not something that happens overnight, it is possible to list down some factors which make a person more susceptible to become obese. It is a lifestyle related disorder. The factors are: sedentary lifestyle, increased consumption of trans, saturated fat and carbohydrate rich food(basically eating in calorie surplus for a long time), hereditary (familial hypercholesterolemia and the likes), hypothyroidism (reduced BMR) ,certain psychiatric disorders are related to high susceptibility for obesity.
  2. Severity of obesity is dependent on the person's current weight, slow metabolism, sedentary lifestyle, no activity, non-compliance to medication if any, etc.
  3. Benefits of weight loss are: less chances of arthritis, cardiovascular disease(hypertension, atherosclerosis, etc), diabetes Mellitus, increased confidence.
  4. Barriers are: low will power, refractory to medication (if due to an underlying pathology), poor dietary habits, psychiatric disorders, delayed realization or attention to obesity, etc.
  5. The cues to action are mostly perception of health deterioration, being pointed out, self realization, medical advice, to make a few.
