1. Why is important for NA to understand basic needs ?

- Because when needs are not met one is affected mentally, physically, emotionally, socially

2. Identify three or basic needs ?

- providing quality care and comfort safe from harm, feeling accepted, pride reaching for dreams. Assisted with feeding as necessary , supply freshwater and encouraging fluids

3. Identify five or more ways you can build positive relationships with residents ?

- introduces yourself, take time to listen

encourage friendship

be kind, caring and & courteous with residents

Provide them safe and comfortable environment

Always knock before you enter the residents rooms

4. Why should you knock before entering a residents room ?

- We should always knock before entering because they need privacy & you should show them courtesy as you would show to people in their own homes

5. Explain some underlying causes of difficult behaviour

- Difficult behaviour is always a symptom of a problem eg. anger, fear, boredom, loneliness, change in lifestyle, loss of independence or health problems

6. Why are good communication skills important

- Good communication skills are important because it allows the proper care to get done, showing concern, building trust, getting along with residents

7. List six or more guideline for good communications ?

- Always take time to listen, be patient and show respect, think before you speak, be aware of your body language, speak clearly and use a friendly tone

8. Describe non-verbal communication ?

- Everything you do sends a message. Facial expressions, gestures, and tone of voice can set a resident on edge; good to be happy and caring
