Fundamental Niche Realised Niche
• Range of environmental conditions in which each of the species survive. Range of environmental conditions in which a species is really found.
• Depicts various roles of the species. Depicts what species actually do.
• Comparitively larger. Smaller.

2) African wild dogs avoid areas with lions especially during denning with a combination of both Spatial and Temporal avoidance.

In large carnivorous guild , inferior competitors like African wild dogs reduce the limiting effects of dominant competitors like lion by avoiding them in space or time or in patterns of prey selection.

African wild dogs selected smaller and less abundant prey as their diet.

Then concentrated on time windows that avoided night time hunting by lions.
