Hi can someone help me understand part C and why the drawn in red lines are where they are.

Basically from the bp given how can I go back to cm so I can drawn them into the picture provided?

In the gel they given only the cm not the base pair. In Hind III they given 23000 bb can move upto 2.1cm
Same as 9400bp move up to 5cm. 6600bp move up to 6.2cm. Low base pair DNA moves to higher distance.

In unknown also you are getting relation ship between base pair and cm. Both Hind III and unknown cm has to
used as a reference for part C question.

In part C the base pair 7900 is compare to unknown 8000bp both are in 5.4 cm. SO red line drawn in 5.4cm form 7900 bp. All are drawn in approximately.

Next 5600 bp again seen in unknown exact 5600 bp are there at 7.1 cm. So drawn red line at 7.1 cm for 7900 bp.

For 3080 again compare to unknown 3300 bp it move up to 8.9 cm. So approximately red line drawn to 8.8 cm for 3080bp and so on.
