19) prepare serial dilutions of a plant protein extract using sterile dH2O in a total volume of 100 microliters in each glass test tube. Tube 1-1/1 dilution, Tube 2- 1/2 dilution, Tube 3- 1/4 dilution, tube 4- 1/8 dilution, Tube 5- 1/16 dilution. (remember /= of)

This says it does not have enough information, but this is a practice question i was given it must be solveable

Answer #1

The question is solvable.

You have to prepare a serial dilution of plant extract.

You are given with concentrated solution of plant extract.

Use formula,

(C1)(V1) = (C2)(V2)

C1 is for concentration of stock, 1x.

V1 is for volume of stock, you have to find out.

C2 is for concentration of working solution, 1/2x, 1/4x, 1/8x and 1/16x.

V2 is for volume of working solution, 100 ul.

The original tube, tube 1, contains 1x plant extract.

Second tube, tube 2, contains 1/2x plant extract.

Third tube, tube 3, contains 1/4x plant extract.

Fourth tube, tube 4 contains 1/8x plant extract.

Fifth tube, tube 5 contains 1/16x plant extract.

Dilution factor = final volume / initial volume

Final volume = initial volume + volume of diluent

Dilution = 1 / dilution factor

See figure below -
