2. Some styles of management are authoritarian, consultative, persuasive, democratic, chaotic, laissez-faire, and management by walking around. Compare and contrast two styles of management.

I have selected democratic and Laissez-faire as the management style since the differences between the two structures can be easily identified.

DEMOCRATIC

A democratic management style makes use of the process inclusion of all the elements that are part of the system in order to make the best possible decision-making process possible. In simple terms, we can say that democratic management style includes the outlook, views, and needs of the employees, allow them to raise their concerns as well as provide their response and input to the decisions made by the management. The employees feel included in the company’s policies and procedures and therefore, this increases their morale as well as provides them with a better understanding of the structure and function they are a part of.

For example, Apple has always been a democratically managed organization, since their beginning and have utilized the capabilities, ideas as well as needs of their employees in order to bring about better implementation of their working processes.

Laissez-faire

A Laissez-faire management style makes use of a management's decision to allow the employees the freedom as well as necessary authority in order for them to come up with the solution to their own problems, come up with better solutions to common processes as well as bring about an overall productive environment in order to make the use of the capability of the employees in order to bring forth the factor of innovation. Such a management style considered the needs of creative freedom for their employees and allow them to implement the changes to their structure and function in order to bring forth successful execution of their personal ideas, providing productive, efficiency and motivation as a result.

For example, Zappos is one such company that has developed a management structure which makes use of Laissez-faire as well as transformational leadership in order to allow them the innovative structure they needed to create the competitive value for them in the industry they are a part of.
