Do you feel it is right for employers to monitor their employees' activities on social network sits, such as Facebook? Why or why not
There may be many opinions in for or against about this statement. But my opinion is that it should not be monitored. The companies can check social media sites when they hire employees to check there visual presence, feasibility, nature, truth of information given, and other details. But monitoring the employees will not be a good idea.
Here are some reasons for same.
Unethical Practice- Each and every employee has their own right of privacy. The employees share their feelings on Social media sites then there is nothing to so with the company. Monitoring the social media activity is unethical practice.
Waste of time- Monitoring will be a waste of time for the companies. The same time should be utilized for many other productive activities.
Too much Control- Monitoring means the company wants too much control over the employees. No employee wants to be controlled and lost their freedom. They will find out new ways to get the freedom. So all the effort will go toward unnecessary activities.
Wrong Assumptions- Some companies claim that they monitor the activities because there is a risk associated with the employer like data theft, or employee has asked for leave because of poor health although he or she is truly fine and leave was far another cause rather than illness.
So the employees can easily make another account and they can perform those activities easily without being caught. Then there is no need of it.
Loss of Trust- The social media monitoring shows that the employer does not have trust on employees. They should focus on building trust rather than monitoring social media activities of employees.
Poor Reputation- By doing so the company takes unwanted reputation in the industry. People do not prefer those companies because of lack of freedom. So those companies may not get proper man power.
So as per these statements the companies should not monitor their social media activities.

LinkedIn: Employees’ Privacy vs. Employer’s Reputation With the growing use of social media, employers need to determine how much they should monitor their employees’ use of social media. On the other hand, without probable cause, an employer can be seen as overacting and invading the employee’s personal privacy...
