The accessory eye structures include eyelids, eyelashes, eyebrows, lacrimal apparatus and extrinsic eye muscles.

The eyelids cover the eyes during sleep, prevent excess light and objects from entering the eyes, and help to spread lubricating secretions over the eyeball.

The eyebrows provide shade to the eyes and prevents perspiration and falling particles from entering the eyes.
