The five main components of a PCR-based dye terminator reaction are

1. Template DNA - acts as the template for the amplification

2. Taq DNA polymerase - The enzyme which synthesize the complementary strands of the template DNA

3. Nucleotides (ATP, CTP, GTP and TTP) - The DNA polymerase add the corresponding nucleotides to the growing DNA strand

4. Oligonucleotide primers - The primer binds to the specific ends of the template DNA and the polymerase enzyme add corresponding nucleotides to the 3' OH end of the primer leading to the synthesis of the complementary strand.

5. Terminator nucleotides (ddATP, ddCTP, ddGTP and ddTTP) - They are chain terminator nucleotide residues labeled with dye.
