At that time the society was very conservative and women in the employment field was not common . There were number of positive aspects associated with it

  • It provided them financial independence and paid in cash by leading to less exploitation
  • Provide dooptuinirs for them iteducate themselvs and upgrade their job status such as working as teacher or in hospitals
  • The working conditions were good as compared to other factories .
  • Women were often motivated to enhance their intellectual skills
  • Improvement circles were present for women to improve writing and for discussion .
  • They also attended lecture by Ralph waldo Emrsion
  • Self improvement was one of the objectives

Negative effects

  • Young women were chosen and they were paid less than men which resulted in exploitation of labour and wage gap .
  • Gender inequality was on rise
  • In order to increase the corporate profits they were exploited and their working hours were much more tiring and gruesome .
  • Exhaustion led to working accidents .
