A psychology discussion:

Some of you may be dealing with a tremendous amount of stress at this time. What strategies have you used to cope with stress in your own life? How well are they working? What other strategies could you try?

Strategies used by me to cope up with stress:

  • Seeking social support: Sharing your problems with someone who is close to you not only allows you to lessen the burden but also allows you to gain a fresh perspective. Social support plays an important role in reducing stress.
  • Exercising: Exercising not only keeps your body healthy but also your mind. Exercising releases endorphins which are the feel good hormones thereby helping us in reducing stress.
  • Coming up with a strategy to solve the problem also helps me to reduce stress. It allows me to have control over events.

These strategies have been working pretty well for me. Also, since all of these strategies are adaptive, they can be successfully used to deal with stress.

Some other strategies that I would like to use involve Meditation, Mindfulness, Assertiveness and Biofeedback.
