Employees are considered as key assets in any organization and the organization needs to take care of their employees so that employees can perform better in their duties and responsibilities. Human Resource (HR) Management manages various employee issues such as recruitment & selection, training & development, motivation, benefits & compensation, and administration, etc.
There are many functions of Human Resource Management that are discussed in the below points,
a. Staffing: Staffing is one of the main functions of the HR department in the organization that consists of recruitment and selection of prospective candidates as per the requirement of the organization. In this function, the HR department needs to attract prospective candidates to work for the organization and select the best candidate after carefully analyzing the candidate in terms of education, experience, skills required for a particular position in the organization. In this function, the HR department utilizes various recruitment technologies and methods to get the high volume of candidate applications and filter them as per the requirements of the organization.
b. Training and Development:
Training & Development is the second most important function of the HR department. The HR department helps new or old employees to acquire new skills and knowledge to perform their duties and responsibilities in the organization. HR department manages and arranges various training & development sessions and programs for employees to learn new technologies and courses that help employees to perform better in current and future roles and responsibilities in the organization.
c. Benefits and Compensation Management:
HR management also develops various benefits and compensation strategies for different job posts and manages them accurately to help employees to get their salaries as per the market standards. The HR department also manages and handles incentives, bonuses, and other benefits for the employees. The HR department identifies and creates the best compensation plans for employees on the basis of the role, performance, and legal aspects.
d. Performance Management:
Performance Management is also one of the important functions of the HR department where the HR department helps employees to perform better and solve all issues that an employee faces during their employment in the organization. HR department ensures that the employee performs better and stay productive in their jobs. HR department creates a positive environment that provides better leadership support, open feedback, and goal setting. The HR department also conducts annual performance reviews or 360-degree feedback tools to provide better and correct feedback to employees and suggest the areas of improvement.
e. Job Analysis and Design:
Human Resource Management also helps the management to describe nature of jobs and development job descriptions, job duties, and responsibilities as per the vacant position in the organization. It helps in developing various roles and responsibilities that an employee needs to perform in the organization. The HR department also helps management to analyze skills, knowledge and work experience that an employee should have to perform his duties for a particular job position.
Recruitment and Selection is one of the most important function of Human Resource Management to an organization's overall success. As we know that employees are one of the most important assets in the organization. But when the organization failed in choosing the right candidate, then the employee could become liabilities in the organization. The organization needs to invest money, time, and other resources to develop employees as per the requirement of the organization, but only right and motivated employees will get the training in the right way and develop their skills and knowledge.
The HR department needs to attract more and right candidates that suits as per the job description of the said job position and also filter out unqualified applicants from the applications. The department needs to choose the right method to attract applicants so that more deserving candidates can apply and the organization chooses the right candidate. As it takes money, time and resources in hiring new employees, so the HR department needs to make proper strategies and plans to hire the best candidate from the market.
