Describe the process of the digestive system
Digestive system responsible for taking whole foods and turning them into energy and nutrients to allow the body to function, grow and repair itself. 6 activities of digestion are: Ingestion, propulsion, mechanical or physical digestion, chemical digestion, absorption and defecation.
Ingestion , the first process , which is the entry of food into the alimentary tract through the mouth.
Propulsion is the movement of food along the digestive tract. It is the peristalsis, a series of alternating contractions and relaxations of smooth muscle that lines the walls of digestive organs and forces food to move forward.
Mechanical digestion means physically breaking food into smaller pieces. It begins in the mouth as food is chewed.
Chemical digestion is breaking down the food into simpler nutrients which are used by the cells.
Absorption is the movement of nutrients, water and electrolytes from lumen of small intestine into the cell and then into the blood.
Defecation is the final act of digestion, by which organisms eliminate solid, semisolid or liquid wastes from the digestive tract via the anus.
Critical Thinking 1. Identify each organ of the digestive system below. Describe the healthy functioning of each organ in the space provided. Then, using a medical dictionary or encyclopedia, look up each organ and list one common disorder that would adversely affect the digestive process. Healthy Function Chapter 33 Nuti Common Disorders
choose a medical procedure that involves the Integumentary system, Digestive system, and Urinary system. Describe the procedure and define the terminology used in that procedure. (3 procedures, one for each system)
Briefly describe the structure and functions of the digestive system (in 60-80 words).
Q4 Briefly describe how the urinary system, respiratory system, digestive system and integumentary system contribute to excretion of waste products from the human body (in 60-80 words). Q5 Briefly describe the interaction of the reproductive and endocrine systems (in 60-80 words).
what is Human Digestive System? How does food move through your digestive tract? ...Where does most of the digestive process take place? ...What does the liver do to help digestion? ...Which of these can harm the intestinal lining? ...Which of these best maintains intestinal health? ...Which of these can cause heartburn?
Describe the functional anatomy of the duct system that conveys bile from the liver and digestive juice from the pancreas to the lumen of the duodenum
The digestive system plays a critical role in how our body takes in and processes food. Organs of the digestive system are usually referred to as "your gut". It's also the beginning of the process in which our body receives nourishment. Understanding this process can be helpful when communicating with patients or when analyzing charts for assigning the correct medical codes. If you had to explain the point at which the digestive process actually begins and one related disease or...
1- Describe in detail the major subdivisions of the gut tube (digestive system). 2- During development of the urinary system three punto
Describe how the "digestive system" is an example of the following pillars of physiology: homeostasis, chemistry, physics, autonomic nervous system and energy. Note: I am not looking for a very very specific answer. It can be related to these pillars in any way! Homeostasis: Chemistry: Physics: Autonomic Nervous System Energy:
What are the other systems the digestive system interacts with? Describe how, why, and when those interactions occur? What is the larger combined effect of those interactions?
