During the initial infection by a virus, macrophages with antigen expressed on their surface secrete interleukin 1, triggering helper T cells to activate T and B cell response. In fact, helper T cells are one of the main cells that modulates the immunological response from T and B cells. It allows the differentiation of B cells in order to produce a humoral response (antibody response) or cytotoxic response (T cells).
