THE CONCEPT OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IS AS OLD AS MANKIND.HOWEVER, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT VIEWS REGARDING WHAT AT ALL, HR IS ABOUT, AS CONTRADICTORY AND FRAGMENTED VIEWS HAVE BEEN OFFERED IN RELATION TO THE ISSUE. FOR EXAMPLE, SOME SCHOLARS ARE OF THE VIEW THAT HR IS ALL ABOUT BUSINESS, OTHERS ALSO ARGUE THAT HR IS ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE, WHILE SOME CONTEND THAT HR IS ALL ABOUT PEOPLE. ASSUMING THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PRESENT A SEASONED DISCOURSE PAPER: ACCOUNT FOR THE REASONS WHY DIFFERENT VIEWS ON WHAT AT ALL HR IS. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH ANY OF THE PERSPECTIVES?

I would rather agree to the postulate that HR is all about business. Human Resource is an asset in which the business essentially makes an investment for long term benefits. HRM is the art and science of getting the correct Human resource, nurturing and retaining the resource to get maximum output in terms of higher revenue, optimization of cost , running production and management processes , getting R&D done , making decisions for the company, arranging for funds, doing performance analysis of the company etc. All the outputs of a company are directly or indirectly produced by human resources. The ultimate objective of a business is to maximize shareholders' earning , that way the human resources of a company does the main work of earning income that fulfills the company's business objective. All the activities of recruiting , retaining , training of human resources are done with one objective, further increase the shareholders' return.

So it all boils down to business and HRM is in fact all about business .
