What do duplication, rearrangement, and mutation of chromosomal DNA have to do with humans, chimpanzees, and mice?
Question
The duplication , rearrangement and mutation are three main process involved in the difference in the genome sequence of mice, chimpanzee and human. Although there is a high similarity between the DNA sequence between the these three organism but these three process lead to the difference in DNA sequence and protein sequence. The process of rearrangement include mutation in the DNA which shuffle pieces of DNA lead to the new arrangement of genes. The process of duplication involve copying of DNA sequence in one chromosomes location to another using transposon. The mutation is the process of change of nucleotide sequence that lead to the formation of different protein in these organism.

4. Gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans are able to taste PTC, but chimpanzees and humans have also derived the capacity to be a non-taster via convergent evolution. Using the information in the table below, construct a phylogenetic tree that reflects these derived traits. "1" indicates the presence of the trait,"0" indicates the absence of the trait (4 marks). Explain how one duplication event of a chromosomal region will have the potential to be expanded in future generations to many additional changes of the same region. Assume duplication mutant chromosomes can successfully go through meiosis with a homolog that has a different number of copies in the region of interest (i.e., meioses that occur in chromosomal heterozygotes).

28. Which type of chromosomal rearrangement reorganizes the DNA sequence within one chromosome but does not add or subtract sequences: 29. Rice, wheat, and barley are related grains that have different numbers of chromosomes. However many groups of genes that appear genetically linked in rice appear linked in these other grains. What is the term that describes this observation.
Humans have 46 chromosomes while gorillas, orangutans and chimpanzees have 48. Make a simple tree to show the relationships among humans, gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans based only on chromosome number. Identify the outgroup in your diagram. Is 46 chromosomes in humans derived or ancestral?
