Answer #1

a)

Demand rate = 180 PDA per hour = 180/(60*60) PDA per second = 1/20 PDA per second

Cycle time = 1/Demand rate in second = 1/(1/20) = 20 second

b)

Theoretical minimum number of workstations = Total task time/Cycle time = (11+14+8+4+20)/20 = 2.85

Hence, 3

c)

Workstation 1 = Let us start with A. Task time is 11 seconds. So, time left = 20-11 = 9 seconds

Hence, task C can also be assigned which has 8 seconds as task time

Workstation 1 = A,C

Workstation 2 = Assign B with task time 14 seconds. So, time left = 20-14 = 6 seconds.

Hence, task D with task time of 4 seconds can also be assigned

Workstation 2 = B,D

Workstation 3 = E

d)

Yes
