Answer #1

Answer -

The exact mechanism of action of levetiracetam is unknown but the possible mechanism is that the drug bind to synaptic vesicle glycoprotein (SV2A) and inhibit presynaptic calcium channels which inhibit release of neurotransmitter and stop impulse conduction across synaptic cleft.

It is widely used in the treatment of various diseases and abnormalities such as partial (focal), myoclonic and status epilepticus. It also has potential benefits for other psychiatric and neurologic conditions such as anxiety disorder Tourette syndrome and Alzheimer's disease.
