BENZODIAZEPINES
Mechanism of action :- Benzodiazepine works in the CNS on a specific receptor like GABA A. (means benzodiazepines works like GABA) it's a inhibitory neurotransmitter that inhibit certain CNS functions.
Benzodiazepine increase the response of GABA protein (inhibitory neurotransmitter) by opening GABA activated chloride channels and allow chloride ion in the neuron. That leads to negative charge of the neuron and resistance to the excitation. And effect occurs.
Indications:- Anxiolytic, panic disorder, in seizure prevention and treatment, in alcohol withdrawal syndrome, as a muscle relaxant, in local and regional anaesthesia also in fracture etc
Adverse effects :- drowsiness, dizziness, vision problems, uncoordinated movement, trembling, cognitive impairment etc
