17-What is metabolism and its components?
Metabolism:- All Chemical reaction occuring in the body collectively known as metabolism.
Now, its is of two type:--
1. Anabolism::-- Constructive reaction. Sum of all those reaction which are adding something to body.
eg. Like photosynthesis, where simple water, CO2 , light tthen they produce Carbohydrate in the body. So here the water, CO2 molecules were simpler molecules and the product was complex like carbohydrate.
2. Catabolism:-- Breaking up something, Sum of those reaction breaking up something.
eg. Like respiration, where Glucose is being converted in simpler molecules like water, CO2. Okay. Means something is getting converted into simple one.
Components of Metabolism :--
:--->>Minerals and vitamins
The minerals in food are important as body regulators and play a
role in metabolic pathways of the body.
Important minerals include:--
calcium
phosphorus
iron
sodium
potassium
chloride ions
Magnesium
Iodine etc.
Some of them will acts as cofactor for the enzymes.
:--->>> Enzymes:---Proteincious molecules containg thouands of Dalton masses or that is to say , they have heavy masses.
They act as catalyst and can make any reacting completed within a day that is about to compelete in years. Okay
Like Peptidases, phosphifructokinases, cellulases etc.
Pretty nearly, All reaction are assisted by Enzymes.
:->>Temperature:-- All enzymes are functional at spefic temperature. Like all bodies enzyme will function at 37'C and if increment or decrement by little bit causes disturbance in enzyme function.
:-->>pH :-- Some enzymes will function at acidic environment and some of them at basic environment. Okay
Like, stomach enzyme at acidic mode and other hand, intestine at basic mode. Okay.
So enzyme and minerals are the important components and others too.
That's it.
