Answer #1

The nucleic acid consists of three parts which are nitrogenous base, sugar and phosphate. However the nucleic acid is recognized by the DNA polymerase through the nitrogenous base which is known as the start codon from which addition of nucleotide starts for transcription. The sugar unit helps in connecting the bases and helps in recognition of the DNA polymerase. The component which will not be recognized by the DNA polymerase is the phosphate component of the DNA. The phosphate is important as it along with sugar forms the sugar phosphate background.

In part A, yes you should reconstitute the full-length protein sequence from the fragments. However, you do not need to write out the amino acid sequence - you can just provide the order of the fragment numbers (from either set of fragments). For example (and this is not the answer), you could say: "Using the Pro-IAPP fragment set, starting from the N-terminus, the fragment order is '5-4-6-3-2-1' " and that would fully address the question. In part B, the hint...

three part question!!!! Lab Activity for RNA Processing: p53 Isoforms Isoforms, simply defined, are different proteins created from the same genomic sequence. These differences can be created by a variety of mechanisms, including alternative splicing, the usage of different promoters, and the usage of different start codons. The p53 gene (usually called Tp53) is located on the short arm of chromosome 17 in the human genome. It has some unique gene topography, including one non-coding exon and very long intron...

please answer all the question to get a like. Part III Dr. Hernandez sits down with Ann and her partner. The doctor is sorry to report that Ann has breast cancer; however, because it was caught early and responds to estrogen and progesterone, the prognosis is good. At this point it looks like the cancer is stage 1. However, as Ann is young, the doctor wants to perform a couple of tests. The first test is a genetic sequencing test...

    2. A dominant allele H reduces the number of body bristles that Drosophila flies have, giving rise to a “hairless” phenotype. In the homozygous condition, H is lethal. An independently assorting dominant allele S has no effect on bristle number except in the presence of H, in which case a single dose of S suppresses the hairless phenotype, thus restoring the "hairy" phenotype. However, S also is lethal in the homozygous (S/S) condition. What ratio of hairy to hairless flies...

1 Overview and Background Many of the assignments in this course will introduce you to topics in computational biology. You do not need to know anything about biology to do these assignments other than what is contained in the description itself. The objective of each assignment is for you to acquire certain particular skills or knowledge, and the choice of topic is independent of that objective. Sometimes the topics will be related to computational problems in biology, chemistry, or physics,...

Part B - How does this research relate to your biology course? The following graph shows the frequency distribution of a heritable trait -- fur color -- in a hypothetical deer mouse population. The x-axis represents variation in fur color from light to dark. The y-axis represents the percentage of individuals in the population with each particular color of fur. 333 There are three ways in which natural selection can alter the frequency distribution of a heritable trait, such as...

Assume the following characteristics of the layers: Layer 1, 6 octet address length, 512 octet payload; Layer 2, 4 octet address length , 256 octet payload; Layer 3, 8 octet address length, 1024 octet payload. Note that in the minimalist header arrangement no error detection or correction will be used; however,...
