Answer #1

1) No.A latch doesn't have a clock but a flip-flop does .. but conversion from Sr flip-flop to d Flip-flop is possible...so without using a clock we can't convert Sr latch to d flip-flop because if we use clock then it will become conversion from Sr Flip-flop to d flip flop..

2) serial in serial out: Data is given as input only 1 bit at a time also only 1 bit is available at output.

Serial in parallel out: Here data is sent in 1 bit at a time but output is available parallely.i.e all bits are available. ( Used in Serial to parallel converter)

Parallel in serial out : In this case data is sent into shift register parallely but output is available serially I.e one bit at a time . ( Used in parallel to serial converter)..used in A/D converters..

Parallel in parallel out : Here all bits are given simultaneously i.e parallely and also available at a time at the output ..

3)shift registers are series of flip-flops ..a shift register can be designed with desired number of flip-flops .and each Flip-flop can store 1 bit. In general case a shif register has 4 flip flops sk this case we need 4 shift registers to store 16 bit binary number.

4) we have binary data generators available in the form of kits ..they can be used at input of shift register..at output we can use a digital display..

3 Theory A shift register is a series of flip-flops connected so that data can be transferred to a neighbor each time the clock pulse is active. An example is the display on your calculator. As numbers are entered on the keypad, the previously entered numbers are shifted to the left. Shift registers can be made to shift data to the left, to the right, or in either direction (bi-directional), using a control signal. They can be made from either...

Design a 3- bit Multipurpose Register. The register utilizes 3 "D" type flip flops with outputs Q0, Q1, Q2. The Registers has a synchronous clock input(CLK) that clocks all 3 flip flops on its positive edge The Registers has an asynchronous clear input(CLR' ) that sets all flip flops to "0" when active low. The Register has 2 select inputs, S0 and S1 that selects the functions as folows: S1 = 0, 0, 1, 1 and S0 = 0,1,0,1 and...

task 1: In digital electronics and modern computer hardware, a flip-flop is sequential digital circuit used as a basic memory element. It has two stable states and can be used to store state information. One of its states represents '1' while the other represents '0'. The most common types of flip-flops are SR-flip-flop, JK-flip-flop, and D flip-flop. When used in a finite-state machine, the output and next state depend not only on its current input, but also on its current...
