Answer #1

1)& (2) According to the law if you are asked deposition questions or if you are deposed

  • You are important for the case.
  • Your truth may help in solving the case so you can't refuse.
  • Your answers to the deposition question will be recorded so you can't tell lie.
  • If it is found that anything you answered at the time of deposition questioning is a lie then strict actions may be taken against you.
  • You may be the eye witness or any other important entity related to the case. So, truth is the demand.
  • If you refuse for deposition then it will considered as the contempt of court you may face strict actions.
  • You can answer only those questions which are being asked.
  • You cannot volunteer i.e. you cannot explain anything because explanation beyond the question may result in confusion.
  • During the deposition questioning you will have to take an oath so it is assumed that you will say a truth so if you lie it may go against you.
  • Whatever answers you have given during deposition questioning will be considered true so you cannot change your answer later.
  • If you change your answers then it will be considered as a lie or you have to prove that at the time of deposition questioning you were not in senses or someone was forcing or blackmailing you.
  • Your answers may save the innocent and the culprit may get the punishment, that's why deposition questioning is done in order to give the justice.
