1. Physiological needs: it includes the basic needs of food and shelter for any person. From the organizational point of view, physiological needs are basic salary and wages. these are natural and very basic requirements for human survival such as sleep, air, food, drink, shelter, clothing.

3. Social needs: it includes the essentials of affection, love, and friendly relations with others. In an organization, social needs can be a good relationship between employer-employee within the organization. after basics and security needs, one wishes to gain the feeling of belongingness and love. 4. Esteem needs: it includes the needs of recognition or fame in society. It can be a good and highly respected job for an organization. after fulfilling upper needs, a person wish to have esteem needs like status, reputation in society, prestige, achievement, dignity.
5. Self-actualization needs: it includes the motive of improvement in oneself. This need is never satisfied. In an organization, this need can be employee development and training. such as understanding personal potential, self-fulfillment, striving personal growth and peak knowledge.
The person with the esteem needs would most likely to be motivated to accept a promotion because esteem needs include reputation, achievement and dignity needs.. One can apply Maslow's theory in any organization by identifying the stages of needs of different employees working there. The main advantage of Maslow's theory of motivation is that it is a straightforward theory, and anyone can relate to this theory.
There are various critics regarding the theory that it is not universally applicable. According to the chronology of needs, Maslow has stated that one person can be on the two Stages simultaneously.
