Answer #1

Volume of this spherical vessel : V = 4/3 πr³ = 4/3 (2/1 cm)3 = 4.189 cm3

Density of this spherical vessel shall not exceed 1 g/cm3 :

thus mass of spherical vessel if density is 1 g/cm3 = 4.189 g

mass of empty vessel = 2.0 g

Thus, ,max. mass of water can be added : 4.189 g- 2.0 g = 2.189 g

thus greatest volume of water that can be placed = 2.189 mL ~  2.18 mL

Many people have imagined that if they were to float the top of a flexible snorkel tube out of the water, they would be able to breathe through it while walking underwater. However, they generally do not consider just how much water pressure opposes the expansion of the chest and the inflation of the lungs. Suppose you can barely breathe while lying on the floor with a 370 N weight on your chest. How far below the surface of the...

    5) A boy uses a wine bottle cork as a fishing float. The cork has a diameter of 20.0 mm, a length of 40.0 mm and a relative density of 0.460. Determine: a) the volume of water the cork displaces while floating on its own in fresh water; b) the maximum mass of spherical lead sinker which the cork can support before it sinks completely (ignore the volume of the small steel hook and fishing line).

Help me, Please In this Virtual Lab, you will find the mass of an object using an electronic balance. You will then predict if an object will float by comparing its mass to the mass of the water displaced by the object. To do this Virtual Lab, you will need to convert the volume of the water displaced from milliliters (mL) to grams (g). The mass of 1 mL of fresh water is 1 g. If you know the volume...
