Why do you think emotional intelligence has emerged as a key characteristic of effective leaders? Do the leaders or the followers make the real difference in its popularity?
Emotional intelligence holds the most value for a leader since the understanding of leadership function has been distinctive to management, where the leader focuses on providing the best form of guidance to the people, bringing them together, enabling them, and motivating them to reach higher goals that they have set. We can relate to the understanding of leading with the aspect of control of one's emotion to make the decision-making process free from any biases. The fact that a leader needs to be able to convey meaning over more significant variables in today’s age means that the consideration for employee support, cooperation and, therefore, collaboration would also require us to form a good rapport with them. What this means is that the abilities of the leader to make decisions without being held back by any prejudices, favoritism, and keeping in check over one's own emotions would mean an impartial, and therefore, the rational decision means the leader can provide the best possible resolution to their subordinates.
I believe it is the supporters that set the tone for leadership
endeavors in today’s day and age, and it is not just the leader
that makes the difference in popularity. Sure, a component leader
has a higher chance of being recognized for their efforts, but the
fact that competent people are the ones that make the leader
relevant and their functions valuable means the difference between
a good and a great leader, also in terms of popularity.
