Answer #1

the correct option is b genotype is more inclusive than Allele.

Allele is the alternative form of the gene while genotype consist of both the allele and is one of the genetic makeup of the cell which determines the promotion can you type of a particular character

the correct option is A. the dominant allele is denoted by an uppercase letter.

as we know allele is an alternative form of the gene. for each character there are two alternative forms of traits which allele are controlled by two alleles. one of them is dominant over the other (recessive)i the presence of both dominant and recessive allele the dominant allele mask over the recessive allele and the phenotype is produced by the dominant allele. to study the genotype we have to represent both the early differently so most of the scientists consider uppercase letter for dominantly and lowercase letter for recessive allele.

the correct option is C (Gg).

in heterozygous condition both the dominant and recessive allele are present and the phenotype is produced by the dominant allele. so here the dominant "G" gives phenotype grey body colour and recessive allele "g" gives out phenotype of black colour. so the phenotype produced will be determined by the dominant allele"G" that is grey colour.

the correct option is b. they are both homozygous dominant

GG × GG

all the offsprings of the two grey bodied flies are also grey this hints that there is no possible combination of of recessive allele that is gg which would produce black colour. this implies that any the parent does not have any recessive allele

    2. The lubber grasshopper is a very large grasshopper, and is black with red and yellow stripes. Assume that red stripes are expressed from the homozygous RR genotype, yellow stripes from the homozygous rr genotype, and both from the heterozygous genotype. A. If two heterozygous grasshoppers were crossed, what would be the genotypic ratio of the F1 generation (RR:Rr:rr)? Fill in the Punnett square. B. What genotypes would be produced by crossing a grasshopper with both color stripes and one...

You are investigating two traits in fruit flies controlled by one autosomal dominant gene each. The B gene controls for body color (B=black or b=brown), while the r gene controls for body sculpture (R=rugose or r=smooth). After crossing heterozygous rugose black flies with homozygous smooth brown flies, you obtain an F1 generation of 100% rugose black flies. 1. What are the dominant alleles? 2. What are the genotypes of the two parent flies to perform a dihybrid cross? 3. Of...

In rats, at least 2 different genes interact to determine hair color. The allele A causes a yellow-colored coat and the allele R produces a black coat. If both dominant alleles are present (genotype A-R) the rats are gray, and if none are present (aarr) the rats are cream-colored. a. If two heterozygous gray rats are mated and have 16 babies, show the expected number of babies of each color. b. If a heterozygous gray rat is mated with cream-colored...

In Drosophila (fruit flies) the genes how, dumpy and ebony are located on chromosome 3. LOF = loss of function. Flies homozygous for a LOF mutation (no gene product made) in ebony have dark black bodies. Flies homozygous for a LOF mutation (no gene product made) in dumpyhave truncated (short) wings. Flies homozygous for a partial LOF mutation (some gene product made but significantly less than normal) in how have wings that will not fold down (held out wings; that's...

PPPPPP Step 5: Determine the phenotype of cach possible allele combination shown in the offspring. In this instance, three of the offspring Chose with the genotypes EE, Ee, and Be) have free earlobes, because the free earlobe allele is dominant to the attached-carlobe allele. One offspring, ec, has attached earlobes. Therefore, the proba- bility of having offspring with free earlobes is 3/4 and with attached earlobes is 1/4. can you please help me with number 4? An example of linked genes in Drosophila The genes for wing shape and body color are linked (they are on the same chromosome) Drosophila and linked genes In the example shown left, wild type alleles are dominant and are given an upper case symbol of the mutant phenotype (Cu or Eb). This notation used for Drosophila departs from the convention of using the dominant gene to provide the symbol. This is necessary...
